At the Virtual Innovation Academy at Don Tyson School of Innovation, we have a unique approach to virtual elementary education - it’s what we call “semi-synchronous.” Highly-qualified Springdale Schools’ elementary teachers provide the same curriculum taught at the district’s on-site elementary campuses, such as Phonics First. Additionally, VIA teachers and students use LMS such as Lexia and PathBlazer. Virtual Innovation Academy teachers offer weekly “on-sites” at our virtual elementary annex at 409 N. Thompson where students come together for STREAM enrichment activities, social time and PE. Students also participate in small group or individual intervention groups as needed, whether in-person with teachers or on Zoom.
