Cyndi Weatherford is the new Helen Tyson Middle School assistant principal.
"I would like to thank Dr. Cleveland, our district admin team, our School Board and the HTMS team for the honor and opportunity to be a part of the HTMS family," Weatherford said. "I am genuinely excited about the journey ahead and eager to contribute my utmost to the success of our students, teachers and the HTMS school community."
Weatherford has been an educator for 22 years and has served the distrcit as a third-grade teacher at George Elementary School and an instructional facilitator at Southwest Junior High School. She comes to Helen Tyson from Har-Ber High School, where she worked as an instructional facilitator.
Dr. Jared Cleveland, Springdale Public Schools superintendent, said Weatherford will make an immediate, positive impact on Helen Tyson Middle School.
"She is an amazing bilingual educator with a heart for all children and families," Cleveland said.
Patrick Scott, Helen Tyson Middle School principal, is confident Weatherford will continue the school's culture of achievement and growth.
"We are excited to welcome Mrs. Weatherford to the Helen Tyson Middle School family," Scott said. "Her enthusiasm and passion to serve will continue the tradition of HTMS being a place where students realize their potential and become successful."
Weatherford holds a Bachelor of Science in education, a Master of Arts in advanced instructional studies for English as a second language learners and an Educational Specialist Degree in educational leadership. She's also earned Bilingual Education certification and is a National Board Certified Teacher 2010 for early and middle childhood literacy and language arts.
Weatherford said she looks forward to building strong relationships, empowering teacher-leaders, fostering a culture of acceptance, celebrating students and connecting with families to create a unified school community reflective of the Springdale family.
Weatherford is married to Jason Weatherford. The couple's son, Chase, graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in May. Their daughter, Jayci, will be a senior at Har-Ber High School this year and plays basketball for the Lady Wildcats.
In their free time, the family enjoys attending sporting events, cheering on the Razorbacks and spending summer days on the lake.
